Employer Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships offer various benefits to employers and apprentices alike, from career development to funding support.
If you employ apprentices at different levels, whether they are school leavers or university graduates, you can grow talent within your company. What’s more, the government offers employers up to 95% of funding for training to develop their staff and business. Get in touch today for more information.
Employing Apprentices
Employers fall into various categories, with different levels of support and partial funding depending on age and level of qualification or apprenticeship, including:

Non-Levy Payer
As an employer that does not pay the apprenticeship levy, you pay just 5% towards the cost of training and assessing an apprentice. You will pay your contribution directly to the training provider on an agreed schedule, and the government will pay the rest of the costs, up to the funding band maximum.
If you employ fewer than 50 employees, the government will pay 100% of apprenticeship training costs up to the funding band for apprentices who are:

-
Aged 16 to 18
-
Aged 19 to 24 with:
-
Past Education and Qualifications
-
Health and Care Plan Provided by Their Local Authority
-
History in Care of Their Local Authority
-

Levy Payer
If you have a pay bill of more than £3 million as an employer, you are required to pay the apprenticeship levy. You can manage funds using the apprenticeship service and spend it on training and assessing your apprentices as and when required by your business.
The government will also apply a 10% top-up to the funds you have in your account.
If you do not have enough funds, you just pay 5% of the outstanding balance and the government will pay the rest, up to the funding band maximum allocated to each specific apprenticeship.
