Individuals carrying out this type of work on Construction sites require a CSCS Card and the GQA Level 2 and 3 Qualifications are accepted by CSCS as proof of competence; dependent on the pathway/optional units the Level 3 qualifications give access to the Level 3 Supervisor Card.
There is a requirement for all involved in the survey and installation of domestic doors and windows carried out under Competent Persons Schemes, (e.g., FENSA, Assure, etc) to prove compliance with the Minimum Technical Competency (MTC) scheme. One of the routes to compliance is to hold a relevant, recognised qualification less than 5 years old. All of the Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications are accepted by this scheme.
This “lifespan” of the qualification requires individuals to be re-assessed on a 5-yearly cycle – the Competency Update qualifications have been introduced for this purpose. The Combined Surveying and Installation qualification has been developed to allow those involved in both roles to prove compliance with a single qualification.
The Level 1 qualification has been developed to allow individuals to gain an understanding of the industry and could be suitable for those still at school or college or new entrants to the Industry.

Congratulations
A massive congratulations to the apprentices at Scotia in Scotland, supported by their trainer/assessor Chris Blackett from Time 2 Learn Academy and the management at Scotia. They have dedicated off the job learning hours and learnt more about the job role and the quality standards that Scotia as a company expect and exceeded those expectations.
Scotia have worked with their work force to educate and support the personal developments of their staff, this in turn has shown retaining a culture of loyalty and progress.GQA the glazing sector awarding organisation has supported both Scotia and Time 2 Learn on the apprenticeship journey, working together has developed a positive outcome for all involved.
Thank you every one and well done 😊
